Announcements:
- Diane announced that she will be governor for the 28-29 Rotarian year. This will coincide with her 5th birthday and the club’s 30th. She appreciates the club’s support and reflected on her journey from “never” to “yes” with encouragement from fellow Rotarians and leadership. Governor Donna and Sunrise Club secretary Melissa aided in the paperwork.
- Sandy – Trivia Monday 10/20; Posters to be put up at the Legion and elsewhere. This month’s beneficiary is the Brattleboro Literacy Festival. Recommended arrival time is 5:30.
- NEYT event Nov 1, let’s get together before the event or try to sit together.
- Mona – BINGO Concession at Newbrook Vol Fire Station. Plenty of volunteers, we need food. MJ, Diane & Roger, Toni, Mellisa and Evelyn have donated raffle prizes. Sandy bringing soda and chips, Riley is handling dishware and milk, MJ baking cookies, Banana bread by Roger and Diane. Justin volunteered to make butternutsquash soup. All hot food should be delivered by 3 p.m to Mona’s house. Additional cookies and baked goods welcome.
- Deb’s spinal surgery progress and the wonderful emotional and logistical support from the membership. This included meal trains and flowers. (Thanks to Dan’s donation and board arrangement) There was an extensive text chain that provided Deb with club-wide encouragement before and after the operation. Deb is now recovering well.

- Kevin bragged about his grandson now being a cubscout and how there will be future popcorn fundraiser sales.
- Toni bragged about her son’s wedding reception in the northeast kingdom.
8:00 AM – Club Assembly
- Membership / Review New Member docs – Kevin. Reported on the revamping of the membership handouts to prospects and the relaxing of some of the requirements. The key changs will be streamlined and club specific content such as costs, event list, fines/breakfast info and nonprofits supported. Information gathering focused on alignment with club’s values and service orientation. Editing via google docs for feedback from membership committee ongoing. There is no strict timeline but the committee aims to finalize within the next few months.
- Garden / Bulb Planting Plan – Londa – schedule for Saturday, October 26th at 10 a.m. the plan is to put in 150 bulbs in an hour to ninety minutes. Practical tips were exchanged such as group bulb planting, spacing, and tools needed.
- Community Service / Brainstorm Ideas to Engage our Students – Josh and Mona reported on possibilities for student rotarians (Taylor, Honeycutt, Riley and Gilbert) to participate in window dressers, bingo concessions, dinner raffle ticket sales, trivia set up, river trail weeding, Green up Day and potential December club assembly for assembling care packages for the homeless. The aim is to keep the students engages and tied into club events throughout the winter and spring.
- Social committee – Toni - October 17th at Marigolds (former River Garden) on Main Street at 5:30. For November: Bar 580 (VT Marketplace/Outlet Center) on Friday November 14th @ 5:30pm. Future dates to be added to the Rotary Calendar and reminder emails to be sent. There is a holiday party tentatively scheduled for Wednesday December 10 at Sages or alternate location.

- • Sandy/Ben/Kate organizing pre-NYT event social—Ben to make reservations.
